The Power Of Dreaming

What is your dream?

Were you unsettled by this question?

Or you just relaxed and smiled back at me with an immediate reply?

Dreams are the building blocks of our life empire. This empire is our  Purpose, the very reason why we are existing.

Every great accomplishment, achievement or endeavours by anyone all started with a dream, consciously or unconsciously.

Time and space will not permit me to begin to list the names of men and women, dead and living, who accomplished great feat in life and have been celebrated by the world.

But one very interesting thing I want us to grasp from their stories is that  the foundation of all of their exploits was a dream, that is one of their common denominators.

Dream that came while they were walking on the street, taking a shower in the bathroom, driving, eating, meditating, reading etc.

This dream flashed into their head without warning, obstructed what they were doing and never left them until it is been pursued and fulfilled.

What is a dream?

Before I forget, I am not talking about the sleeping mode experience. No! dream here refers to the wide awaken expectation.

Dream have been defined in several ways in this context but personally, I am more at home with this particular definition:
Dream is a mental picture of a desired future.

This definition is not only concise but also self-explanatory for the worst dummy to grasp!

And I just crafted my own definition too. you want to see it?............receive it!

Dreaming is presently seeing yourself in your future.

How about that?

Leading a meaningful and fulfilling life starts with a dream because a dream is a force that discipline and drives you to accomplishment in life.

Thus, the influence of  a dream cannot be over emphasised............

Your dream determines how you spend your resources including your cash and time.
And if you are very serious about your dream, it will also determines your interest, association and what gets your attention.

In fact, your dream gives you direction in life.

A dreamer does not just go for anything or everything. He sees and weighs every opportunities with the eyes of his dream.

A man without a dream in life is a blind man. this is worst than physical blindness. for such a person, every opening is an opportunity. He accepts everything and anything that life throws at him and he is perpetually at the mercy of life because circumstances dictates his life. This is the foundation of boredom in life which can lead to suicide in the worst scenario.

Ever wondered why some people pitiably take their own life?......that might not be far from the reason.

A life without a dream is a life that has nothing to live for. It is a confused life that is either heading nowhere or everywhere. Such a person easily bows down to the challenges of life.

Your dream gives you the reason why you must weather every storm that life throws at you.

Living life without a specific aim is catastrophic!

At every point in time, our life is supposed to be focused towards a specific direction. A dream produces this focus.

What is your dream?
What are you actually pursuing in life?
What do you want to be known for?

I have had the opportunity to throw these questions, without warning, to some young people I have been privileged to come across  and the immediate reaction I got from  many of them was........utter confusion!

With a confused countenance, many of them just mumbled and stammered words back at me while some others just stare back at me speechlessly.

I don't usually go far in discussing  with them before discovering that many of such people are either pursuing nothing in particular in life or they are in hot chase of everything, consciously or unconsciously.

Wake up a man of focus from his sleep any day and any time and ask him of his dream........you will have to beg him to stop!
His dream is always clearly cut before him and he talks about it with a great enthusiasm.

IS IT ALL ABOUT DREAMING??

And here is an another bombshell.......

Having a dream does not automatically fulfils the dream!

Or else, many of us would have done unimaginable exploits and built mighty  empires right from our beds. Just imagine it!

Dreaming is just the necessary starting point
The fulfilment of our dreams requires work.....and I mean, real lots of work in every ramifications.

This is where real dreamers are separated from day-dreamers and wishful thinkers.

To put it very clear, fulfilling our dream is not a bed of roses, it comes with a lot of frustrations and setbacks, I guarantee you that.

But at the end, (for those that will stick to the end) the fulfilment of the dream is worth all its troubles. Ask Joseph.

Joseph never had it smooth before the fulfilment of his dream. he had to visit the pit, endured slavery and innocently cooled his heels in the prison. but in all, the young man never buried his dream.

when it comes to dreaming, Joseph is my number one mentor.

I ask you again.........

What is your dream?

Do you really have any?

What do you wake up every morning thinking about?

What thought usually fills your mind all day?

What do you go to bed every night meditating about?

If there is a positive SOMETHING to  these questions, then you have a dream......congrat!

But wait a minute!

When are you going to start doing something about the dream?
 Did I hear you say..

"when conditions gets better?"

Dear, waiting for the perfect time before pressing the start-button of your dream is a SET UP.......that time will never come!

The right time to start giving life to your dream is NOW!

There is always a way to start doing something about your dream, at least bit by bit. Start from where you are and with what you have...as you take the bold step of faith, the provisions you need for every stage will appear, especially if your dream is not in conflict with God.

Don't forget this........Any dream that has nothing to do with God in any way has a very bleak future!

Lastly.....and very important!

Your dream should be people-oriented.

Of course, every normal human being should have personal development goals and dreams but unfortunately, that is the bus-stop of the majority of people. that is an ordinary life!

People that did exploits and lived the extra-ordinary life had dreams that shook their generation and the ones after.

They dreamt the impossible!

That is the kind of dream I am talking about. dream that will register your presence in the history of life.

You deserve it too! dream the impossible.

Such a dream is people-oriented!

A dream centred on only self is short-sighted and devoid of much impact (if any at all). Such a  dream usually stays within the status quo and therefore  more comfortable to fulfil, that is why it is more common among mediocre people.

Great minds dream beyond themselves.

A dream that sincerely has the betterment of people's life as its priority will always have heavenly backing, such a dream can never die.

So wake up....
and start  dreaming.

you already have a dream?
then fold your sleeves and go to work immediately.

you are already working on it?
then giving up should not be an option for you, no matter what!

because...
just as, the darker the night is, the nearer it is to a new day so also
the tougher the work seems, the nearer the fulfilment of that dream.
