7 Indispensable Qualities Of Great Leaders

"Great leaders wanted urgently."
This seems to be the invisible advert in almost everywhere you go. Right from the smallest organizations to States and Nations, great leaders are being sought after, especially in this part of the world.
In fact, the basic need of the world is good leadership.

The essence of leadership is service. This is the primary reason for leadership in any platform. Leadership is not an opportunity to amass wealth for oneself, become famous or become powerful so as to dominate other people.

Leadership is an opportunity to add values to the lives of people, through service. That is the foundation of great leadership. This should be settled in your heart as a leader or potential leader.

Inasmuch as I might agree that great leaders are born, I also have no doubt that great leaders can also be made.

Are you interested in becoming one? if yes! than follow me as I outline some of the qualities that distinguishes great leaders.

#1. Integrity: Words are very potent. The words that slip through our lips defines our personality. In fact, we are what we say.

Integrity simply means commitment to our words, it is honesty to the core. Unfortunately, lack of integrity has been one of the major weakness of many of our so called leaders  down here. Their words are very far from their actions.

Great leaders are people of integrity, their words and actions go together. you can count on their words because they will never allow their words to fall to the ground.

Great leaders are very conscious of their words, they will not say what they do not mean because whatever they utter, they will follow it up to the latter to bring it to fulfilment, even if it is not comfortable for them.

#2. Vision: Where are you taking your followers to? why should your followers totally submit their loyalty to you?

Great leaders lead with defined vision and this vision is constantly communicated to the followers as often as possible.

The more your followers clearly know where you are taking them to, the more they will trust and respect your leadership.

#.3. Courage: Please get this clear, courage is not the absence of fear, every human being fears one thing or the other, it might not show on the face.

To me, I am more at home with this school of thought that says that Courage is rather the act of taking the necessary decision, right in the presence of fear. The fear is there, but you still chose to do the right thing, that is courage.

As a leader, most often, you will be faced with situations and conditions that requires you to take courageous decisions which might be against the norm.
The more courage you show, the more followers you will win, because people naturally respect others that can do what they cannot do.

#4. Sacrifice: Permit me to say that sacrifice is the hallmark of leadership. Selflessness and self-denial for the sake of the followers marks a great leader.

This quality can be quite difficult for many of us because of our natural human selfish inclination but great leaders have been able to subdue selfishness, that is why they are very unique.

Most often, great leaders sacrifices their time, comfort, interest, desires and even their resources for the general benefit of those that they are leading.

#5. Innovation: Great leaders do not always stick to the status quo, they are always finding better ways of doing everything.

"This is how we used to do it."

Have you ever heard that statement before? Great leaders are not intimidated by that. and this one too....

" It has never be done that way before."

These statements are usually made by mediocre minds who are scared of change. But for the great leader, change is unavoidable if it will produce a better result.

#6. Motivation: Great leaders are usually great motivators. Their words and actions do not only inspire their followers to get the work done faster and with a good attitude but also, inspires the followers to individual greatness.

#7. The God Factor: Great leaders are very close to their maker. Their relationship with God influences every of their decision making, in other words, their decisions and actions are taken with the full consciousness of God.
Because of this, God in turn  backs them up with divine wisdom, this is their main distinguishing factor from other leaders.

The bottom line of it is that, great leaders loves God.

And remember, you cannot love God without loving Jesus Christ, because, Jesus Christ is the ONLY WAY to God.

Therefore, great leaders and Jesus Christ are best of friends.
