WHY STILL PRAY? when He knows what i need.

If it is agreed that God is Omniscience, then why still pray to Him if He already knows what we need?
Have you heard something like that before? if YES! then we are on the same page.

Prayer in its simplest definition, is a means of communicating with God. Whatever God gives to us, He want us to value it. Have you ever wondered why armed robbers never quit  no matter the magnitude of their plunder? in fact, have you ever seen or even heard of a retired arm robber? ( I mean those that retired voluntarily and not those forced to retire by the law or the Holy Spirit!). Armed robbers don't value their spoil because they didn't work for it and so they squander it immediately it comes and go out for more.

God has given us a means of communicating with Him and He want us to value it. though He is aware of our needs before we ask, He still requires us to tell it to him through prayers and in the process of telling Him, we are forming a relationship. God desires relationship with us. Relationship with God is the basis of Christianity.

Prayer is a privilege: how will you feel if you have the opportunity of talking one on one with the president of your country, even if it is just for once? talk more of the Almighty God and he has given us that platform for a lifetime. what a privilege!

Prayer is a sign of humility: human beings are naturally proud. praying to God means submitting yourself to a higher authority, in order words, you are saying you cannot help yourself. remember, God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. we all need the grace of God to do exploits on this earth.

Prayer is an open cheque: in John 14:13-14, Jesus said " And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask for anything in my name, and I will do it."
what more can I say than to urge you to take full advantage of this opportunity.
Are you then wondering why some of your prayers seemed not to be answered? that will be a gist for another day but don't forget that God is ever faithful to His Word, you might have missed a button in your asking....so watch out for that post. ( follow my blog for subsequent post on that topic).

So why do we still need to pray? we still need to pray because
  • God wants us to value the privilege of talking with Him.
  • in praying always, we  are solidifying our relationship with Him.
Got the gist? lets finish it up with this text.
" Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."  Heb 4:16.
